A woman has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a bus in Shepherd's Bush.

The incident happened at around 10.40am on Thursday (December 8) morning, on Uxbridge Road.

Video footage shows police and ambulance at the scene.

One witness has said there is "lots of blood".

The Met has confirmed to getwestlondon that a woman was "in collision with a bus". They say it is too early to give an update on her condition but say she is conscious.

Transport for London has also announced buses are affected, with the 207, 260, 283 and 607 all subject to diversions. It is also warning of delays.

Police have told getwestlondon that the woman hit by a bus earlier today in Shepherd’s Bush has suffered “non-life threatening injuries”

Paramedics confirm head injury

A statement from London Ambulance Service (LAS) read: “We were called at 10.36am today (Thursday) to reports of a road traffic collision at Uxbridge Road, W12.

“We sent an ambulance crew and an emergency responder to the scene. The first of our medics arrived at the in scene under four minutes.

“We treated a patient at the scene for a head injury and took them as a priority to a major trauma centre.”

Speaking to getwestlondon

She later described “blood on the floor” and told getwestlondon that the woman appeared to be in “a very critical condition”.

One witness to that incident said it was a miracle that the woman, who was pinned between a wall and a double-decker bus, survived.

'Very critical condition'

She continued: “I saw her in the back of the ambulance and she seemed to be in a very critical condition.”

No 72 bus

Sylvia Da Barca, from Shepherd’s Bush, said: “I’m not sure what happened but it looks like the woman has been hit by a bus quite badly. It was a No 72. She was an older lady. There’s blood on the floor.”

She added: “At the moment police are still outside and they have tapered off the road. “

Hurt woman is "elderly"

She continued: “We think she was elderly, she was facing down on the road and there was blood coming from her face and her head. She was maybe in her 60s, maybe a bit more, she was elderly. She had a walking stick”.

Witness: 'Really bad injury'

Store manager of Greenford Timber and Builders Merchants, who requested to stay anonymous, said: “There was a lot of blood and I think there must have been a really bad head injury.”

Another, who asked not to be named, told getwestlondon: “They’ve cordoned it all off. She’s been in an ambulance and gone now. There was a pool of blood, from her head. I saw blood, it is gross.”

Several witnesses are describing large amounts of blood on the road. One witness said the woman was “lying in a pool of blood”.

getwestlondon has been told by the Met police that the incident happened at 10.39am. They say the woman is “conscious” but was unable to give an update on her condition.
