London's famous Mela Festival is soon to return to Gunnersbury Park in Ealing, with festivities taking place on Sunday September 6.

The event, Europe's largest South Asian festival, returns with a spectacular line-up of live music, dance, visual arts and food from South Asia.

The festival will feature the best in classical music, British Asian urban artists, dance, comedy and cabaret, Asian-influenced street theatre and circus, and exhibitions.

There will be two stages at the festival; the Main Stage, and the BBC Asian Network Stage. Line-ups for both stages have now been confirmed, with the hotly anticipated Main Stage line-up confirmed and finalised today.

Main Stage line-up

  • Benny Dayal: Bollywood sensation Benny Dayal will be headlining the London Mela Main Stage with his live band Funktuation. Benny Dayal will be performing for the second time in London this summer fresh from his show at the Royal Albert Hall's BBC Proms.
  • Imran Khan: Imran Khan is a Pakistani singer, songwriter, and record producer and is currently sat at the number one spot in the Asian download charts. Imran Khan is on the way to release his second album in summer 2016, whose first single Imaginary was released in June 2015.
  • Raghav: Raghav Mathur is an independent Canadian singer/songwriter. He has released three studio albums, and his single Angel Eyes peaked at number seven in the UK in 2005. His singles So Confused, Can't Get Enough and It Can't Be Right also reached the UK top ten in 2004.
  • Mumzy Stranger: Mumzy is a MC, singer-songwriter and record producer. His debut single One More Dance topped the UK Asian Charts, as did the follow-up singles, Showgirl and Fly With Me. He is the first artist of Bangladeshi descent to have entered the mainstream music industry.

  • Mobille Homme: The Main Stage finale will feature one of the world's leading creators of outdoor spectacle, Transe Express, presenting their award-winning show Mobille Homme along with the famous London Mela firework finale.

There will still be surprises announced, however! Ajay Chhabra, artistic director of the London Mela, said: "We usually have a mystery booking that we don't announce, it keeps things interesting...

"People know to expect the unexpected at London Mela, we make the ordinary extraordinary. In a place where people are used to, it takes empty space and makes it lively and vibrant."
