Four into two won't go is the simple sum - but QPR defender Steven Caulker insists he plans to squeeze his 6ft 3ins frame into one of the two central defensive spots next season.

To do so, he challenges club captain Nedum Onuoha, player-of-the-year Grant Hall, and new £1m signing Joel Lynch for a place.

Two of them have to miss out, assuming James Perch returns to right-back and eclipses Onuoha.

Former Cardiff and Tottenham Caulker endorsed his head coach's belief via the club's video player that he's at Rangers for the long haul.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink insists he wants to keep the man signed in 2014 and four-year deal on £30k-a-week - regardless of the 24-year-old's Premier League wages.

Rangers have promised to strip back inflated contracts and transfer fees.

But Caulker wants to play first-team football, even in the Championship, after a year of largely sitting in the shadows on loan at Southampton and then Liverpool.
