Steven Caulker has had his loan spell at Southampton cut short and he has now joined Liverpool for the rest of the season.

The QPR defender made only eight appearances for the Saints and his last one came in a 6-1 loss to the Merseyside giants.

The 24-year-old came to prominence during a loan spell with Swansea, where he impressed in his 26 Premier League appearances.

His form saw him used by Tottenham by Andre Villas-Boas and he won his first England cap in 2012, scoring on his Three Lions debut against Sweden.

Rare appearance: Steven Caulker at Southampton

Cardiff signed him in July 2013 and he scored five goals as the Bluebirds were relegated from the Premier League.

QPR signed him for £8million in 2015 with Harry Redknapp calling him the new Gary Cahill and he made 35 appearances as Rangers took the plunge from the top flight last season and left on loan for the south coast.

Caulker has now moved to Anfield and could make his Reds debut against Arsenal in front of the Kop.
