Calls have been made to up-graze the Hanworth Dairy Crest rooftop in homage to the iconic model cows before their 40th anniversary.

People have suggested an additional golden cow, a green eco roof with grass for grazing on with new health and safety approved cows on top or more technologically-advanced slow moo-ving cows which sit down when the forecast predicts rain.

Supporters of the bring back the cows campaign, backed by getwestlondon, are appealing to the tight-lipped company to listen to the strength of feeling that exists and respond to the thousands of people who have backed the petition.

Father-of-four and petition organiser Jochaim Jellinek, 43, of Park Road, East Twickenham , is disappointed by Dairy Crest's lack of interest in what the people want.

Mr Jellinek, said: "I am surprised and disappointed that Dairy Crest have not returned calls or responded to this matter to date.

"We know that they are aware of the petition, but they have not yet acknowledged to me that they appreciate the strength of feeling that exists.

"I am still waiting to find out to whom and when I may present the petition to Dairy Crest.

"What I continue to maintain is that Dairy Crest should be able to afford to replace the cows easily, and should make a commitment to do so and preferably state a time frame.

"Dairy Crest could now easily make good use of the media attention, make a clear statement, turn this into a story where they have listened to their customers and the locals and announce the return of the cows to the roof.

"Even better, Dairy Crest could use this opportunity, and in anticipation of the forthcoming 40 year anniversary of the cows on the roof, could upgrade the display in any number of interesting or exciting ways."
