Chelsea boss could yet go back into transfer market

Blues manager expected to buy a striker if club can offload Fernando Torres

Going back in the market? Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho is expected to go back on his previous assurance that Chelsea were done in the transfer market this summer and buy a striker – but only if he can offload Fernando Torres.

The Spaniard, who has struggled following his £50m move to Chelsea three and a half years ago, still has two seasons left on his contract.

With one of the highest wages in football, around £175k a week, a permanent switch seems all but impossible.

However, Torres had been lined-up with a possible loan move to either Spain or Italy – with Chelsea picking up part of the wage bill.
