QPR head coach Chris Ramsey has shed more light on Neil Warnock’s future role at the club.

Contrary to reports, the man who took Rs to the Championship title in 2011, was not at the 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday last night.

Rangers announced on Saturday Warnock would be returning on a part time advisory role, and his work starts tomorrow.

After the 66-year-old was sacked by Crystal Palace in January, he returned to Cornwall where he lives, and has mixed occasional media work into his leisure time. He's made it plain he doesn't want any manager job full time.

Ramsey said: “It’s great to have Neil in, it was my decision. His contract starts this week and he will be in on Thursday and Friday.”

“I’ve brought Neil in as a sounding board and obviously he has a lot of experience.”

“Hopefully he can share his exploits with us with the six or seven promotions he’s had, so it’s only a positive for the club.”

Warnock guided QPR to promotion to the Premier League during his spell as manager back, and it is this expertise Ramsey is looking to mine and push the club back to the top flight.

“I’m really looking forward to working with him [Ramsey], he is someone I’ve always admired as a coach,” Warnock added.

“When I look at the solid start to the season QPR have made, coupled with the squad we’ve got at our disposal, I think there’s a real opportunity to climb the table and push on.”
