Andre Gray would love to bag 20 goals in his first season in the Championship but seeing Brentford promoted is more important to him.
The 23-year-old would like to reach 20 goals for the season and went on a run of scoring seven goals in eight games in November and December, which would help him reach the marker.
He said: “If I can go on a run I did just before Christmas then I can do it but I'm more interested in getting promoted now.
“The goals are spread around the team and that's more important than one person get the goals.”
Gray struggled at times against the Bluebirds with the physical nature of their defenders with manager Mark Warburton calling for referees to give his striker greater protection.
Although he did manage to score as he pounce on Simon Moore's mistake when the goalkeeper parried Alex Pritchard's free-kick to fire home.
Gray added: “At times I could have done with protection but they still had two sending off so it's easy to say we needed protecting but we could be better on the ball.
“Daryl Murphy got one and I said 'Can I get one of them' – it's all about taking a chance and following in the balls today and luckily it got to me.”
He said: “It doesn't get easier but we've got to rise to it. They're the kind of places we need to go and win.”
