Police do not believe any other vehicles were involved in the incident, but they are appealing for witnesses who may have seen what happened to contact officers.

London's air ambulance was called to the scene, on the A40 Western Avenue near the junction with Alperton Lane, at 4.05am on Friday but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's next of kin have been informed but he has not yet been formally identified.

The A40 was closed eastbound at the Greenford Roundabout, with traffic queuing back past the Polish War Memorial, until all lanes were reopened at 10.15am .

Detectives from the Met’s Road and Transport Policing command are investigating and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments prior to it.
