A motorcyclist has died following a collision on the A40 Western Avenue in the early hours of Friday (December 8).

Police were called to the Western Avenue junction with Alperton Lane in Perivale , Ealing , at 4:05am to reports of an injured motorcyclist.

London Ambulance Service also attended but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for Metropolitan Police said: "Enquiries are still ongoing but it is believed the man may have mounted a kerb which resulted in him coming off the motorcycle."

On Friday morning, police added: "Road closures are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area."

According to police, the victim's next of kin have not yet been informed.

The eastbound carriageway was closed

Transport for London (TfL) was advising motorists to avoid the area, with queues on the A40 back to Long Lane.

Buses in the Perivale area were being affected by the road closure, with route 95 on diversion.

Posting to Twitter, TfL Bus Alerts said: "Route 95 is diverted following Western Ave eastbound closure from Greenford Roundabout to Hanger Lane due to a road traffic collision.

"Traffic congestion expected."
