All lanes have been reopened on the A40 Western Avenue following a fatal collision involving a motorcyclist on Friday morning.

At around 4.05am, police were called to a collision at the junction with Alperton Lane in Perivale , where a motorcyclist was reportedly injured.

Paramedics from London Ambulance Service attended with Metropolitan Police but sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police spokesman said it was believed the motorcyclist may have "mounted a kerb which resulted in him coming off the motorcycle".

Motorists were urged to avoid the area throughout the morning as police closed the road to investigate the fatal crash .

Lanes began to reopen at 9am and the final lane was back up and running at 10.15am, when traffic reportedly "looked normal".

The eastbound carriageway was closed on Friday morning (December 8)

The road was initially closed eastbound at Greenford Roundabout, with delays on the A40 tailing back to Polish War Memorial.

A spokesman for Metropolitan Police said the victim's next of kin have not yet been informed and enquiries into the incident were ongoing.
