A majority of boys and girls at Chiswick School have secured their first choice university place after receiving brilliant A-level results.

Isabel Ireland who achieved three A grades secured a place at Oxford university to study English and was in the 80 per cent of students who gained their top choice of university.

Among the 20 per cent of A*-A grades were high achievers including Milly Asquith and Athena Rees who both achieved 4 A-levels with A* and A grades.

Athena is taking a gap year, while Milly has secured a place at Birmingham University to study psychology.

Jay Polley, Zakaria Meddings, and Naing Htut secured 3 A-levels each at A* or A.

Jay is going to study chemistry at Bristol University, Zakaria will go on to take the aeronautical engineering degree at Imperial College London and Naing will study mechanical engineering at University of Bath.

Ashkun Zolfagharinia who also achieved three top grades - A* and A - is looking to add to his qualifications in order to study Medicine.

Tony Ryan, headteacher who was pleased with another successful year of results, said: "Our job as a school is to raise our student’s aspirations.

"With so many Chiswick students now successfully progressing from good GCSE grades to advanced level studies, the challenge is to continue this success, allowing students of all abilities to progress successfully to the next stage of their journey.

"The individual success stories evidenced across school today, demonstrate that we are successfully managing to achieve this in a market where the bar rises year on year. 

"I wish all Chiswick students every success, we are proud of you.”

Chiswick School students achieved 68 per cent of A-C passes and an overall pass rate of 98 per cent.

The average point score per student was 683.1, and per entry 209.2.

There were also students who combined work-related or vocational qualifications with their studies with some outstanding results.

Benjamin Steel who secured funding from Sky to produce his own short film during his time in Year 13 will now go on to study for a degree in Film Production.

Similarly, Dovlet Seyidov who successfully combined a Double BTEC vocational course with a Geography A Level to gain an offer to study Geography at Kings College.

Students were also celebrating their A-level results today at Brentford School for Girls , Isleworth & Syon School for Boys , Kingsley Academy , St Mark's Catholic School .
