Students had every reason to get carried away about their A-level results at Kingsley Academy, where they celebrated on a stage filled with balloons.

The A*-C pass rate at the school in Cecil Road, Hounslow, was 70 per cent, and the proportion of A*-B grades soared by 10 percentage points from last year.

Star pupils included Harneet Khaneja, Sonika Pun, Sadaharu Uchisawa and Feven Weldegaber.

Principal Anjali Sakhardande said: "I am delighted with these achievements and congratulate all of our students and staff who have worked extremely hard and deserve these successes.

"I wish our students every success for their future. This set of results clearly shows that Kingsley Academy is a high achieving sixth form, and I'm excited for our future."

Students were also celebrating top results at Cranford Community College , The Heathland School and Lampton Academy , among other schools.
