QPR striker Loic Remy says he is 'proud' to be has joined west London rivals Chelsea for £10.5m.

The Frenchman has moved to Stamford Bridge on a four-year deal after the Blues activated the release clause in the 27 year old’s contract.

He was pulled out of the QPR team for Saturday's 1-0 win against Sunderland and Hoops boss Harry Redknapp said he was on the verge of signing for Jose Mourinho's men.

Remy told Chelsea's website: "I feel very happy and very proud. When I heard Chelsea wanted to sign me I said 'let's go' straight away because they are one of the best clubs in the world.

"I remember the amazing atmosphere at Stamford Bridge when I played there for Marseille and I can't wait to play for the first time in front of my new fans."

Before the weekend, Redknapp said that there had been no late bid for Remy and he was increasingly confident of keeping the striker.

But after Chelsea let Fernando Torres join Milan on a two-year loan deal, Mourinho made his move.

Remy joined QPR from Marseille in January 2013, scoring six goals in 14 games, as the Hoops were relegated from the Premier League.

He spent the 2013-14 campaign on loan at Newcastle United, where he scored 14 goals.

Remy, who has made no secret of his desire to play in the Champions League, looked set to move to Liverpool earlier this summer but the move collapsed at the 11th hour.
