Passengers have been urged to have their say about possible changes to a number of bus routes through Hounslow and Ealing .

The E8, 110, H28 and 481 routes, along with the 635 school route, would all be affected under proposals by Transport for London (TfL) .

It claims the alterations would improve services to West Middlesex Hospital to cope with the anticipated rise in the number of patients; provide greater capacity to serve planned developments in Hounslow and Brentford town centres; and increase links to Ealing Broadway, West Ealing and Hanwell stations in time for the launch of Crossrail there in 2019.

If the plans are implemented:

  • The E8, which currently runs from Ealing Broadway to Brentford High Street via Hanwell, would be extended to Bell Corner, Hounslow. Buses would travel via West Middlesex Hospital and would all be double-deckers
  • Route 110 would no longer serve York Street and Arragon Road, in Twickenham, but would be extended to run from Hounslow bus garage to West Middlesex Hospital
  • The H28 would be rerouted between Jersey Road and Osterley Tesco via Syon Lane and would also be extended to serve Brentford County Court. Rerouting part of the service would provide a much more direct route between Hounslow town centre and Gillette Corner, in Brentford
  • The 481 would run twice as often during the day from Monday-Saturday, and there would be a new hourly service on Sundays
  • The 635 school route would run only between Hounslow bus garage and St Paul's School in Sunbury. It would no longer serve Brentford County Court
The proposed changes to the E8 bus route (TfL)

Hounslow Council leader Steve Curran said: "These may seem like minor changes to the existing routes but it's important that, if you use these routes, you're aware of what they could mean to your journeys and make sure you have your say.

"We want to encourage more people to use the bus network if it means fewer vehicles on the roads. If they can be improved then this is an opportunity not to be missed."
