Nearly 3,000 revellers beat a path to a Big Lunch street party in Isleworth where a drumming workshop was among the highlights.
Live music, a petting farm, puppetry and a mini circus, with giant bubble making and stilt walking, were also on the menu at the Church Street Party on Saturday (June 6).
Champion cyclist Eileen Sheridan, who ruled the roads in the '40s and '50s, opened the annual celebration, now in its fifth year, and new Hounslow mayor Nisar Malik and MP Ruth Cadbury were among the partygoers.
Crowds also enjoyed a roadshow by Radio Jackie, sponsored by The London Apprentice, and much more as they soaked up the sun by the riverside.
A raffle and silent auction generated more than £1,500, which, along with other profits from the day, will go to Friends of Cathja to help it continue to support people with mental health issues through art from a Dutch barge moored on the Thames at Isleworth.
Event organiser Gale Davies and her assistant thanked the organising committee, sponsors and businesses who helped make the event happened.
Nowell Anderson, publicity officer for Inspiring Isleworth, which helps run this and number other events in the area, said the turnout was estimated at 2,700.
"I am delighted the party strengthened the bonds between the community and various groups including the police, St Johns Ambulance and local firefighters, while raising the profile of Isleworth even further this year. Very well done one and all," he added.
The Church Street Party was among many celebrations taking place locally and across the country this summer as part of the Big Lunch initiative, which encourages neighbours to get together.
Crowds also gathered at Bell Square, in Hounslow town centre, for a Big Lunch party thrown by the bank Halifax on Sunday (June 7).
As well as free food, attractions there included face painting, Bollywood dancing and live music.
Families also gathered that afternoon on the green in Firs Drive, Cranford, for a Big Lunch party on a somewhat smaller scale. This was the fifth year the event, which included a picnic and games, has been held there.
