Residents' cry for help to step-up safety in a number of green spaces in Feltham have been heard.

Hounslow Council confirmed this week the Feltham Parks area will be covered by a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) as part of a borough-wide order.

An additional restriction will also be placed on the use of unauthorised motor vehicles in Feltham Arenas, Glebland’s playing fields, Bowling Green and Feltham Assembly Hall car park areas.

The PSPO replaces the former controlled drinking zone (CDZ) in the borough.

The new order will give police powers to issue notices imposing conditions on alcohol consumption and unauthorised vehicles in the area to tackle public nusiance.

The crackdown on anti-social behaviour comes after drinking and drug dealing as well as a cut through race track for non-authorised vehicles spiralled out of control making life a misery for people living in the area.

It has been a long road following countless complaints and a strong 600-signature petition started by members of the Feltham Arenas Residents Association (FARA), earlier this year.

To add to this, police urged the council to seriously consider enforcing powers to stamp out antisocial behaviour.

Following this a public consultation was launched by the council in the summer.

PSPO introduced in Feltham Parks to tackle anti-social behaviour

Councillor Hanif Khan, cabinet member for community protection and enforcement at Hounslow Council, said: “ We went out to public consultation on a PSPO earlier this year.

“As a result of the fantastic feedback and support we have received from residents, it has been agreed to include restrictions within the Feltham Park area.

“These restrictions will be part of the borough-wide PSPO enforcing against alcohol related antisocial behaviour ASB, but as an addition will include the banning of any unauthorised motorised vehicles within the zone specified within the consultation.

“The council has also responded to reports of drug dealing and other ASB activity, by improving CCTV facilities in the area and working in partnership with the local police on a joint operation where officers can issue notices to restrict anti-social behaviour.”

A date has not yet been confirmed for the roll out of the PSPO.
