Hundreds of people have signed an online petition to give police more powers to deal with an increase in anti social behaviour in Feltham .

More than 550 people have backed a request by Feltham Arenas Residents Association to get a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) brought in immediately.

People have until Friday (April 21) to sign the petition created to get Hounslow Council to introduce the order.

The area concerns Feltham Arenas Parklands, including Feltham Park, otherwise referred to as Feltham Parks by Hounslow Council.

Anti social behaviour problem in Feltham Park

A petition was started last month following a large number of complaints from local residents to get the parks' status changed from a controlled drinking zone to a PSPO.

With the area gaining a reputation for boozing and drug dealing as well as a cut through for non-authorised vehicles, residents want to see action taken.

The petition has also received support from the Feltham North Police team which tweeted last week urging people to spread the word to back the call.

Feltham Arenas Residents Association have stated on the online petition "Action NEEDS to be taken. The best way to deal with it is to instigate a PSPO.

"The current Controlled Drinking Zone is unacceptable, & unfit for purpose in the Parklands.

"What a PSPO means is signage would be placed around the area to show the change in Park Status."

The change would permit officers to deal with any situation likely to result in anti-social behaviour in a pre-emptive manner.

The petition also states it would mean that there would be:

1) No drinking alcohol within the park boundaries.

2) No mechanically propelled vehicles within the park boundaries, except by authorised staff.

3) The power to disperse groups of two or more persons present in the park, if the officer suspects that the behaviour of the person in the locality, has contributed, or is likely to contribute to:

a) Members of the public in the locality being harassed, alarmed, or distressed

b) The occurrence in the locality of a crime or disorder
