The borough's Re-use and Recycling Centre in Stirling Road, Acton, and Greenford Road, Greenford will be closed on Christmas and Boxing Days and New Year's Day.

And following the festive season, Ealing Council will be running its free Christmas tree collection service, running from December 29 to January 30.

Real tree collections will follow the usual garden waste collection service. Tree trunks must not exceed 20cm in diameter and any trees taller that six-feet must be cut in two.

Alternatively, real trees can be recycled at some of the borough's parks and open spaces in January. A list of these locations and collection schedule will be available on the council website.

Old electrical equipment such as broken toasters, kettles, lap tops, plugs, phones, computer parts and leads can also be recycled at recycling banks and re-use and recycling centres.

Help on recycling is available at www.recyclemystuff.org.uk , which is also running a competition until New year's Eve, with three Love 2 Shop vouchers up for grabs.

And the Around Ealing magazine, available here, also includes a number of tips for staying green over Christmas and beyond.
