Notting Hill Carnival is just around the corner, and many of you will be getting together your best Carnival outfits and preparing to join in with this celebration of Caribbean culture.

The carnival will take place over the August bank holiday weekend; Saturday August 27 to Monday August 29. The main carnival parade and events will take place on the final two days.

This year, tens of thousands of people are expected to arrive and enjoy delicious Caribbean food, dance and celebrate... And if you want to be able to successfully navigate around the crowd, take a look at our map and transport information and get yourself organised!

Route Map

The carnival celebrations take place over the streets of Notting Hill in west London, including the areas of Notting Hill, Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park.

Public Transport Information

London Underground

Due to expected high passenger demand at stations close to the Carnival, some stations may close temporarily to prevent overcrowding.

Some stations may be closed, or exit-only for the event.

  • Ladbroke Grove: Closed on Sunday (August 28) and Bank Holiday Monday (August 29)
  • Latimer Road: Closed after 11.30pm on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday
  • Notting Hill Gate: On Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday the station will be exit-only between 11am and 7pm. The Circle and District lines will not stop
  • Westbourne Park: Exit-only between 11am and 6pm, and closed at 11.30pm on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday
  • Royal Oak: Exit-only after 11am and closed at 6pm on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday

London Overground

The nearest London Overground stations are Willesden Junction, Kensal Rise, Queen's Park and Shepherd's Bush. A good service will be in operation on all routes during the Notting Hill Carnival.

Bus

From around 5am on Sunday August 28 to 5am on Tuesday August 30, buses around the event area will be on diversion or will terminate earlier than usual to avoid the road closures.

During these times, buses will start from the Prince of Wales on Harrow Road to the north of the Carnival area.

To the south of the Carnival area, buses will start from Notting Hill Gate.

Affected bus routes include: 6, 7, 16, 18, 23, 27, 28, 31, 36, 46, 52, 70, 94, 98, 148, 187, 220, 228, 274, 295, 316, 328, 332, 390, 414, 452, N7, N16, N18, N28, N31 N98 and N207.

Extra buses will run on routes 2, 205, and 436.

The following docking stations will be suspended from 9pm on Saturday August 27 until 7am on Tuesday August 30.
