Floats are being prepared, dancers are rehearsing and everybody is hoping for a sunny bank holiday weekend - that's right, it can only be Notting Hill Carnival .

London's Afro-Caribbean communities have been celebrating their culture and traditions with the two-day festival since 1964.

Around 500 people came then, and now around one million people attend the carnival annually, with the event getting bigger and better every year.

This year, the carnival will take place over the August bank holiday weekend; Sunday August 28 to Monday August 29.
