An Ealing astronomy group will be casting their eyes to the night sky next month as part of International SUNday in June.

The astronomy group, Northolt Branch Astro, will be in Walpole Park on Sunday June 18 for the annual event, which is observed globally.

Organiser of Northolt Branch Astro, Guy Wells, said: "We will be there with a variety of telescopes to safely observe our closest star, the Sun.

"We encourage the public, young and old, to come along to the park and observe the Sun with us for free."

Mr Wells added: "You may get to see sunspots, filaments and prominences. Our astronomers will be happy to answer any general astronomy questions too."

The group will be stationed by the Mattock Lane entrance to the park and the event will run from midday to 5pm.

Remember, only observe the Sun through approved filters, never with the naked eye.

Address: Walpole Park, Mattock Lane, W5 5HS
