The early May Bank Holiday weekend is almost here, with a long weekend spanning Saturday April 29 to Monday May 1.

In order to make the most of the lazy days we've rounded up the best events and ideas of things to do over the long weekend, so you're never bored.

1. The Canalway Cavalcade Festival

The Canalway Cavalcade festival at Little Venice

A floating restaurant will be among hundreds of illuminated canal boats which will parade into Little Venice as part of The Canalway Cavalcade Festival.

On Sunday April 30, the London Shell Co will invite guests aboard The Prince Regent canal boat to join in on the procession.

For £15 a ticket, London Shell Co will provide guests a welcome drink on arrival before leaving it's berth in Paddington Central at 8pm.

The floating restaurant will travel down to Sainsbury's Ladbroke Grove Superstore, where it will turn around and join the illuminated boat procession back in to Little Venice.

When: Sunday April 30.

Where: The Prince Regent will leave from Paddington Central at 8pm.

2. Kew Gardens

With more than 30,000 species of plants and loads of fun activities for children, Kew Gardens is a great day out for all the family.

Over the three-day break, people can see gain insight into Kew's history with the "Introduction to the Gardens" or board the Kew Explorer train and take a tour around the magnificent gardens.

3. Enjoy a cup of tea at the Rusty Bike Cafe

The Rusty Bike Café is located in the heart of Uxbridge in Rockingham Parade.

A cyclists heaven, here you can grab anything from an espresso to a glorious plum muffin, providing you with much needed energy to keep you going on the rest of your journey.

Watch out for the bloodthirsty T-Rex and ferocious Spinosaurus, and navigate through the jungle past the Stegosaurus and Triceratops to complete the course.
