QPR set to double defender's wages

Caulker of a deal as Rs edge closer to Cardiff player

Heads I win: Steven Caulker (L) wins battle with Fernando Torres

QPR are set to double Steven Caulker’s wages and make doubly sure they capture the £9million central defender.

The Cardiff City player is believed to be on something close to a flat £20,000-a-week in Wales, but with bonuses, the 22-year-old could pocket the same again if he makes the switch to Loftus Road.

Crystal Palace are also reported to be interested in the centre-back who first caught he eye of Rs boss Harry Redknapp when both at Tottenham together.

QPR target: Caulker (R)

But Rangers will win the signing war when they trigger the clause in west London born Caulker’s contract that allows him to add to impressive displays where he missed not a single minute in last season's doomed campaign for City.
