QPR have been dealt a blow in their bid to sign Everton striker Arouna Kone.

GetWestLondon understands that the Toffees want Rangers to contribute a sizeable amount of the Ivory Coast forward's £40,000 a week wages, something that the club aren't prepared to do.

It means that QPR will now be looking elsewhere to make additions in the forward department.

Kone first moved to England in 2012 when he joined Wigan, winning the FA Cup with the Latics before suffering relegation three days later.

Roberto Martinez left the DW Stadium for Everton that summer and the 33-year-old moved with him.

Kone suffered a serious knee injury in his first months on Merseyside and has been a bit-part player since for the Toffees.

His best moment for Everton came when he scored a hat trick against Sunderland last season but, since Ronald Koeman took over, he has made just six appearances with his last minutes in the Premier League coming in September.
