QPR are weighing up an audacious loan bid for Everton striker Arouna Koné.

Rangers are desperate for fresh faces in their final third - and the Toffees forward is on a list of possibles wanted by a club that crashed out of the FA Cup to Blackburn with barely a whimper.

Boss Ian Holloway immediately vowed never to play the same side again after the 2-1 defeat, and made plain his desire for a mix of experience and youth in the forward line.

The 33-year-old Ivory Coast international certainly fits the former, and with only three Premier League appearances this season has been kicking his heels at Goodison.

Rangers also have Middlesbrough’s David Nugent and former Fulham player Hugo Rodallega in their sights.

And as ever with the January window, it might come down to the cost of the loan fee, as well as agreeing wages for a player understood to be on a reported £40,000-a-week, way above what Rs would be willing to pay.
