AFC Wimbledon hero Bayo Akinfenwa says he wouldn’t even join MK Dons if the Buckinghamshire club offered to build a branch of Nando’s in his home.

Wimbledon FC were controversially relocated 56 miles away to Milton Keynes in September 2003 and the phoenix club was formed by supporters furious about the move.

Akinfenwa is a cult hero at Kingsmeadow and a popular figure among Dons fans and is not your average footballer.

Ranked as the world’s strongest player by EA Sports video game FIFA 16, the muscular forward has been frightening League Two defences since signing for the club in the summer of last year.

Akinfenwa is also a well-known lover of the aforementioned Portuguese restaurant chain but amusingly admitted to GetWestLondon that he couldn’t cope with their famous Peri Peri chicken.

During a Twitter Q&A session this week the proposal was made to the Beast about a potential move to his club’s bitter arch enemy and the striker’s response was as emphatic as it was amusing.

Akinfenwa was a regular at the Northampton branch during his time with the Cobblers but has cut down on his Nando’s intake since joining the Dons.

He was living in a hotel during his time with his old club but can now enjoy his wife’s cooking and spend more time with his family in Catford.
