Neal Ardley was left fuming with the referee after AFC Wimbledon were pegged back by Mansfield Town at Field Mill.

Ross Joyce felt the wrath of the Dons boss for his failure to keep a handle on a 1-1 draw that saw seven bookings and a late red card for Lyle Taylor.

Tom Elliott had opened the scoring for Wimbledon before the Stags drew level thanks to Chris Clements’ free-kick on 15 minutes.

But there was only one man the Dons manager was talking about come full time, with Ardley venting his anger to BBC London in Nottinghamshire.

Ref rage

Ardley: “We lost our way halfway through the first half because of the man in the middle.

“There was so much frustration in the players, they felt it was so one-sided, being booked for tripping someone in a collision and such ridiculous things.

“We started getting so angry that we forgot to play.

“Both managers feel the same way and both managers will be putting the report in.

“It takes away from the focus on my players and your performance and I feel sorry for the fourth official.

“You're just laughing at every decision and I did say to him at half time that it looked like he was itching to send one of my players of and unfortunately I was proved right.”

Red card: Lyle Taylor was sent off

Elbow from Taylor?

Ardley: “I didn't see it because I was over the other side.

“I've looked at the footage, no-one can see it because they were too close together. The ref had the same view as me and he was the only one who saw it.

“It's difficult because you've got to be able to prove that he didn't do anything wrong and you can't prove it.

“My players were scared to tackle in the end. You get one wrong and you're off. I told them at half time to stay on their feet.

Pleased with a point

Ardley: “The away team's always happier with the point.

“I didn't think James Shea had much to do. I didn't feel in any danger at all.

“I thought if anyone was going to nick it, it was going to be us.”
