Peter Grant reckons Fulham players will be all the better for when they are hearing just one voice on the training ground again.

Alan Curbishley initially took over first team duties following Kit Symons' sacking last month, only for U21s manager Grant to be promoted ahead of Saturday's 1-1 draw at MK Dons .

Grant, who has said he does not want the job full time , expressed surprise at finding himself leading things from the dugout, as just a few days before he had been preparing for an U21s game instead.

He said: “It's been a tough couple of weeks for them – they have heard a lot of different voices on the training ground.

“Three or four were also coming back into the side after not playing in a long time, but they showed a lot of character.

“You can see the flaws, and we have to be more intelligent with not giving the ball away. You can see why we have scored a lot and why we have conceded a lot.

“For all that though, Moussa (Dembele) missed a fantastic chance in the first half which could have changed everything.”

Gary Rowett, whose Birmingham City side thrashed Fulham 5-2 in Symons' last match in charge, has been installed as favourite for the job.
