Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett has been made favourite by a host of bookies to take the reins at Fulham.

The Cottagers sacked Kit Symons following the 5-2 defeat to Rowett's Blues at the beginning of the month.

Last week, the Whites appeared set to appoint Reading boss Steve Clarke, before the Scot decided against the move.

Rowett's tenure at Blues thus far has seen him master a marked improvement in the club's fortunes as he took over in the wake of a humiliating 8-0 defeat to Bournemouth, transforming them from relegation candidates into playoff contenders in the space of little over a year.

Sky Bet have the former Burton manager at 8-11 to make the move to west London, ahead of ex Leicester boss Nigel Pearson and Alan Curbishley, who is at the club but Peter Grant is taking temporary charge but he doesn't want the job.

Blues currently sit seven points and six places above Fulham in the Championship standings.

Rowett is also a reported target for the Whites' west London rivals QPR.
