Chelsea manager Antonio Conte faced the press this afternoon as his side continue their build-up to tomorrow night's clash with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are looking to get back to winning ways after Swansea City dented their 100% start to the season with a 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium last weekend.

That leaves Conte's side two points adrift of Manchester City at the top of the early Premier League standings and his task against Jurgen Klopp's side will not be made any easier by John Terry's absence with an ankle injury.

The captain sustained the injury late on in Wales last weekend and has been ruled out for 10 days by Conte, who confirmed that David Luiz will take the skipper's place against Jurgen Klopp's side.

Oh - and whether it’s on TV or not...

There's been another update on De Vrij

Stefan de Vrij was linked with Chelsea earlier today.

And our sister website Mirror Football are claiming that the Blues will go back in for the Dutchman in January.

And - get this - they are confident a £15m bid will be enough to prise him away from Lazio!

Costa: Chelsea determined to pay fans back

The Spaniard revealed in an interview with Chelsea magazine how the Blues are hoping to pay the fans’ loyalty back this season after last year’s disastrous title defence.

He said...

“Obviously it motivates me a lot, but I can only talk for myself.

“Everyone has to be their own critic. For me it didn’t go well, we didn’t honour this great club as we should.

“So we knew that this season, we had to start strong. We had to have this team spirit, this motivation to start well, not just from the first game but from the beginning of pre-season right through to the last game of the season, in order to honour the club.”

ICYMI: Chelsea's third-choice striker confirmed by Conte

And it’s not who you would expect.

Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi are the first-choice frontmen but Conte was asked earlier about whether or not he was worried about the prospect of a suspension for the Spaniard - and his options beyond him and Batshuayi.

And he revealed it will be a midfielder who would step up in their possible absences.

Final preparations have been completed at Cobham today.

Why Izzy Brown may regret his move to Chelsea

West Brom youth boss Steve Hopcroft believes Izzy Brown may have made an error in moving to Chelsea.

Brown, 19, is impressing on loan at Rotherham United but has struggled to break through so far at Stamford Bridge.

And Albion’s head of academy recruitment Hopcroft claims Brown, who was 16 at the time, may have made the wrong move.

He said...

“It might turn out a correct decision. At the moment, it doesn’t look a great decision.

“I absolutely loved Izzy Brown. I thought he was the best of all the players that have left here.

“He could have gone on to play a similar number of games as Saido Berahino. He could have made his 100th appearance for West Brom and be in a better position than he is now.”

Poll: Would you have put David Luiz straight back into the XI?

There don’t appear to be many viable alternatives.

But David Luiz was considered not ready for the Swansea game - is he sufficiently prepared for a game of this magnitude?

Can Chelsea step it up for the big games this season?

Certainly the biggest test so far for Chelsea - can they deliver?

Vialli praises Conte impact

Gianluca Vialli has plenty of praise for his fellow countryman.

Conte played together with Vialli at Juventus and believes his strong personality is having an impact at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's Gianluca Vialli celebrates scoring the equaliser

He said...

“I think Conte is already doing a great job at Chelsea.

“He arrived at the right moment after a disappointing season. He has had a very good team in his hands and he tried to bring in more quality players.

“I think players have no choice but to follow him. They are used to working with managers with a strong personality like his.

“I think he has to adapt to his players as much as they have to adapt to him. I’m positive they will find a compromise. He is already doing a great job.”

Hazard: What we must improve ahead of Liverpool

Eden Hazard has urged his side to improve defensively ahead of the Liverpool game tomorrow night after expressing his disappointment at their performances at the back so far this season.

He told reporters...

“We have always conceded one or two goals [this season], which is a shame.

“It’s up to us to work harder defensively, to be more solid, and to score more goals to put on more of a show and win matches.”

Mikel: Let's make it four our of five

He’s sounding bullish.

Conte discusses Fabregas future at Chelsea

Conte was asked about whether or not Cesc features in his plans or not.

There have been rumours Fabregas is seeking the exit door at Chelsa.

But Conte was keen to underline that Fabregas is going nowhere.

Batshuayi may have just got his wish

He was unhappy with FIFA 17 because of their rating for him so he vowed to download PES 2017 instead.

Here’s how they responded...

They never learn.

Conte confirms Luiz will replace Terry

So then, who’s ready for round two of this man?

He will start, presumably alongside Gary Cahill, at the heart of the Chelsea defence tomorrow night.

Be very afraid, Liverpool fans.

David Luiz is back ladies and gents!

And we cannot wait.

That's all for now!

The cameras are switched off as the dailies start asking their questions.

Conte on when Alonso might feature

“He is ready to play tomorrow and I am sure about this.

“After this game we have another tough game against Leicester, it can be a good opportunity for us to see Marcos Alonso.”

Conte on Luiz against Liverpool

“I said this because it is the truth when new players arrive it is normal that they need the time to adapt to a new concept and idea of football.

“But tomorrow we needed to play David Luiz - he worked a lot in these days in defensive situations with the ball.

“I am confident for him tomorrow for his performance.”

Conte on his striker options

“He is an important player but in our squad there is also Michy Batshuayi and he is waiting for the right moment to show quality.

“And we also have Ruben who can play in this position.”

Conte on Costa discipline

“He must pay attention because he has three yellow cards but I am not worried about this.

“He is growing in this situation, in the last game he showed a great attitude despite it being very difficult for him.

“We all know him, he’s a passionate man and we want to put his passion in the football when he plays.

“It is important to have passion in the right way.”

Conte discusses Fabregas' future at Chelsea

“Cesc is in my plan, in Chelsea’s plan.

“We all know he is a fantastic player.

“If he continues in this way in training it is difficult for me to make the choice.

“I want this from my player, to put in my mind many doubts.

“He is a great player.”

Conte on Klopp

“One of the best in the world.

“He is also showing at Liverpool the great capacity to be a great manager.

“I know him but not too much but we only play with our teams only once, I am very glad to see him tomorrow.”

Conte confirms duration of Terry absence

“He has strained the ligaments in his ankle.

“The doctor told me after 10 days he can come back, he is working very hard and had a training session today to recover.

“Tomorrow David Luiz will play with us for the first time and we are confident.”
