Toumani Diagouraga and Konstantin Kerschbaumer are working on trying to find the best way to compliment their relative strengths.

The Austrian moved to Griffin Park this summer and replaced Jonathan Douglas in the Brentford midfield.

While Kerschbaumer has yet to hit the heights in performance the controversial Irishman did in his time at Griffin Park, Diagouraga believes that, in time, he will.

The Frenchman said: “Dougie was more of a leader on the pitch and Konstantin has just arrived but he's trying to fill that role of a box to box midfielder and that's what he's doing.

“I think he's doing all right. We're talking to each other and try to work out the best way we can play together.

“We get on well off the pitch and we get on well on the pitch. The more times we play together, the better the understanding will be.”

Head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen has been happy with Kerschbaumer's performances but wants to see less running and more quality when in possession.

He said: “I think he's running a bit too much – I'd like less running with more quality on the ball.

“He's very fit but he'll have to be smarter to be in front of the goal. He has to improve on that but I'm happy with him.”
