Chris Ramsey pulled no punches when he labelled QPR 'naive' after they lost 1-0 to Brentford in a feisty west London derby.

And while the Rs head coach had no problem with the result, he thought his own side might have contributed to their own downfall.

"There were times when we got the ball down and did OK. But you have to try and play the way the league is sometimes - and that's ugly," he said.

"Sometimes we've been a bit naive trying to cushion balls into people - and all of a sudden they're on you. They countered our counter (attack) and that's not really what you want when you're attacking at pace."

The thick of it: John Swift (L) and Massimo Luongo

Rangers hit the woodwork twice through Massimo Luongo in the first half, one a glancing header, the second a rasping right foot against the base, but that was as close as they got to keeping up an unbeaten sequence against Brentford spanning 50 years.

Ramsey said: "You've got to take your chances when you get them, and fair play to Brentford they played some slick football. We gave away the ball cheaply for the goal."

Clint Hill was beating the turf in pain and frustration on 74 minutes as well as holding his left knee. The 37-year-old defender will miss out the away game at Derby on Tuesday - and maybe longer.

Ramsey added: "Clint's had a knock and a pull, but he's a warrior, and maybe he'll be back soon, but it didn't look very good."

Challenge: Alan Judge (L) and Tjaronn Chery
