Watford youngster Luke O'Nien has 'grown up as a player' according to Wealdstone manager Gordon Bartlett.

The midfielder has impressed for the Stones in recent weeks during his season-long loan but is out of contract at Vicarage Road in the summer.

But his development has excited Bartlett and he believes O'Nien will be able to use his experiences at Wealdstone to help further his career.

Bartlett said: “He's grown up as a player. He now understands the importance of winning a football match.

“It's not just about going out and playing well but it's about putting together a winning mentality.

“If he can achieve that it will help him with his future. I'll use a term Aidy Boothroyd used to say; I've seen a boy turn into a man.”

Wealdstone are at home to Bishops Stortford on Saturday.
