Data was collated by getwestlondon on 50 points ranging from GCSE performance to teacher-pupil ratios and absence rates.
The results saw St Mark's top the rankings, followed by Ark King Solomon Academy and The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School.
The school was ranked 21 out of 3,088 state-funded secondary schools across the country.
But what does it take to be the best school in west London? We took a look at St Marks' Ofsted inspection to find out.
The last inspection at the school dates back to 2009, but sees the school awarded an "outstanding" in every single category and subcategory inspected.
The school went on to become an academy in 2012, joining The Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust.
The report begins by singing the praises of the school:
"The school has achieved a near perfect balance of ensuring that pupils make great progress and attain high standards but at the same time develop into well-rounded, independent, caring, courteous and upright citizens."
The atmosphere at the school is praised, especially an emphasis on involving parents as 'co-educators' of their children.
The inspection also recognises that good results are no accident, with the school monitoring individual progress and stepping in when a child is not on track to reach the challenging targets set.
Ethnic cohesion at the school is also praised, especially in the cases of pupils who do not speak English as their first language, which stands at around 47% of pupils, more than three times higher than the national average.
The inspection looked in particular at the Sixth Form, again praising the individual attitude to each pupil and their targets as well as a "sharp focus" on examination technique, which can cause some pupils to fall short of the grades they deserve.
In a letter to pupils, the inspector said: "You are helped to develop into responsible, mature citizens who recognise the importance of personal values".
