An 89-year-old man has been taken to hospital with a head injury after being struck by a vehicle in West Drayton .

Police were called to Cherry Lane by London Ambulance Service at around 2.20pm on Friday (August 18).

A spokesman from Hillingdon Police said: "The patient was taken to St Mary’s suffering from a head injury.

"The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their investigation.

"The road was closed for around an hour to allow paramedics and police to work."

During the incident, bus route 222 was subject to a diversion according to Transport for London .
