Two men appeared at the Old Bailey on Wednesday (July 26) following the murder of a 20-year-old woman in Kingston.

Mujahid Hussain (aka Arshid), 33, of no fixed address, was charged on Sunday (July 23) with the murder, rape and kidnap of Celine Dookhran.

The victim's body was discovered inside an address in Kingston on Wednesday July 19.

A post-mortem examination, carried out at Kingston Mortuary, gave her cause of death as an incised wound to the neck.

Vincent Tappu, 28, of, Spencer Road, Ealing, was also charged with the kidnap of Miss Dookhran and a second victim.

Arshid is further charged with the rape, attempted murder and kidnap of the second woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Both defendants appeared at the Old Bailey on Wednesday (July 26) for a preliminary hearing, where no pleas were entered but a trial date was set for Wednesday January 17, 2018.

Miss Dookhran’s family are being supported by a family liaison officer.

  • A 29-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in relation to this case was released under investigation on July 20.
