As Metropolitan Police urges Londoners to surrender firearms during a national gun surrender fortnight, we have been taking a look back at incidents involving firearms in west London over recent months.

According to Metropolitan Police figures, the number of gun related crimes in London has risen by 41% since 2015.

In west London alone, there have been a number of incidents involving guns over the last six months, including a fatal shooting in Kilburn in May and a shooting in Twickenham in August.

The most recent fatality came on Saturday (November 11) following a shooting in Southall.

Southall shooting

Khalid Abdi Farah, 26, has been named as the victim of a fatal shooting in Southall on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 1.23am and Mr Farah was taken to a central London hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3.32am.

According to police, he was shot at point blank rang while sitting in a car in Lady Margaret Road.

A murder investigation is underway and officers are appealing for information.

Kilburn shooting

In July 20-year-old Mohanna Abdhou was shot dead when she was standing with friends in Malvern Road.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a single gunshot wound.

Mohammed Tawfik, 19, and a 16-year-old, both from the W10 area have been charged with the 20-year-old's murder.

Twickenham incident

Police continue to appeal for information after an incident in Twickenham in August.

Police were called to Whitton at around 10.48pm on August 1 to reports of shots heard in the area of Chertsey Road.

A spokesman for Met Police said: "Officers, including specialist firearms officers, attended but no victims or suspects were located.

"A 30-year-old man self-presented at a west London hospital with gunshot injuries.

"He has since been discharged.

"Detectives from the Trident and Area Crime Command are investigating."

The road alongside the A316 was taped off by police while a crime scene was set up for a number of hours.

Two males, aged 16 and 27, were arrested in connection with the investigation and released under investigation.

Police say enquiries continue.

Hounslow shooting

A man was hospitalised after he was gunned down on a housing estate in Hounslow on August 31.

Armed police were called to the Hounslow Heath Estate at around 11.35pm following reports of gunshots fired.

Harrow shooting

An attempted murder investigation was launched in July after a 26-year-old man was shot in the back in Harrow, according to police.

Emergency services rushed to Palmerston Road on July 16 finding a man who had sustained a gunshot wound.

Aside from recent incidents in London, Metropolitan Police recently shared images of guns which have been seized by police so far this month.

They include a loaded shot gun discarded under a car in Brent, a lethal crossbow which was discovered at a Newham property and a revolver hidden in a cutlery draw in Kensington and Chelsea.
