The man who was gunned down in Southall in the early hours of Saturday (November 11) has been named by police as 26-year-old Khalid Abdi Farah, from Greenford .

Scotland Yard said he was shot at point blank range while sitting in a car in Lady Margaret Road .

A murder investigation is ongoing and officers made a fresh appeal for information on Monday morning.

Following the shooting, emergency services were called to the scene at 1.23am with paramedics taking Mr Farah to a central London hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3.32am.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Partridge, from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, is leading the investigation.

Khalid Abdi Farah was shot and fatally wounded in Lady Margaret Road, Southall

DCI Partridge said: “I am appealing to the public to assist our investigation by providing any information or footage of the incident that could help us identify and find those responsible.

“We are working hard to establish the circumstances that led to Mr Farah being fatally shot in the early hours of Saturday.

“We know that a black vehicle, probably an SUV-type vehicle, pulled up beside the Ford Focus that the victim was sat in outside some shops in Lady Margaret Road."

“An occupant of the black SUV then approached the victim on foot and fired directly into the car," the detective continued.

“The suspect then returned to the SUV and it left the scene at speed.”

Police said the vehicle travelled along Lady Margaret Road towards Ruislip Road and then along Parkway heading towards the M4.

DCI Partridge added: “This route is always busy and it is possible that the manner and speed in which this vehicle was being driven shortly after 1.23am attracted the attention of other motorists.

"It may even be that this car has been captured by motorists with 'dash cameras' fitted.

“If anyone can assist with sightings or footage of this vehicle, I urge them to contact my team.”

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place in due course.

A crime scene cordon remained in place on Monday morning in Lady Margaret Road.
