Huge mounds of rubbish have been strewn across an old sports after travellers moved on from a site in Greenford .

Piles of rubbish, wood and appliances were left across the old Vikings Sports ground, now Avenue Park, in Ealing borough after a group left last week.

The picture, taken on February 19, left resident Paul Barry appalled by the mess.

He said on social media: "Sickening the mess, pitch covered."

Similar mess was left at a site in Northolt

The grounds used to be where former Viking Green Football Club used to train, before the team folded in 2003.

Now, the pitch belongs to London Marathon Playing Field Foundation and is the training ground for the London Tigers FC.

It is not the first time this has happened in the borough this month.

Previously, police said travellers in Northolt "left a fair bit of mess" after they had been forced to move using a 12-hour order to leave the land.

Six months before that, caravans have previously pitched up at the shut-down car park, in White Hart Roundabout, Ruislip Road .

Ealing Council and police have been approached for comment.
