The devastated family of murdered Khalid Abdi Farah have paid tribute to their "kind and lovable soul" nearly a week after he was gunned down in Southall.

They implored anyone with information to come forward, saying the 26-year-old will only rest once “this killer is brought to justice”.

It comes as police renewed their appeal for information, revealing the vehicle that the gunman travelled in was stolen from Uxbridge nearly a month earlier, and found burnt out on the evening of the shooting in Knowles Close, West Drayton.

Mr Farah, a 26-year-old from Greenford , was fatally wounded as he sat in a car in Lady Margaret Road at 1.23am on Saturday (November 11) morning, and died two hours later in St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington.

One week on from the shooting police will be at Lady Margaret Road late on Friday (November 17) night and into the early hours of Saturday morning, as they seek further information.

Earlier, the Crimestoppers charity announced a £10,000 reward for information which leads to the conviction of the person or people responsible for the murder.

In their statement released through Scotland Yard, Mr Farah’s family said: “Khalid was such an amazing son, brother and nephew.

“We can’t stress enough how distraught we are that our beautiful boy was taken away from us.

“He was a kind and lovable soul that made an impression with everyone he would meet. We as a family will never come to terms with this.

Khalid Abdi Farah was shot and fatally wounded in Lady Margaret Road, Southall, early on Saturday, November 11

“If you know even the tiniest of details please come forward.

Khalid will only rest in peace when this killer is brought to justice.”

Mr Farah was sitting in the driver’s seat of his hire car outside a parade of shops when a black VW Tiguan SUV car parked beside him.

The gunman approached and fired shots at Mr Farah through the open passenger window.

A passenger in the car managed to escape unhurt.

At around 8pm that evening, a black VW Tiguan was found burnt out in Knowles Close.

A petrol can similar to the one believed used to purchase fuel following the shooting of Khalid Abdi Farah in Southall

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Partridge, from Homicide and Major Crime Command, is leading the investigation. He said: “We believe the VW Tiguan found burnt out in Knowles Close was the car used by the suspects who shot Khalid.

“This car had been stolen from the Uxbridge area on October 15 and was using cloned plates between then and Khalid’s murder.

“I am making a very specific request for assistance from the public who live in the Southall and West Drayton areas of west London for sightings of the Tiguan bearing the cloned plates ‘VK 61 EEG’.

“Our work indicates this car was being used and stored around these areas during that time.”

He also said information on a green petrol container could be key: “Additionally, I want to appeal to petrol stations retailers in those areas about transactions that took place on November 11 in the 17 hours between Khalid’s murder and the car being found burnt out.

“I am particularly keen to hear about anyone who purchased petrol directly into a green petrol container - they may even have purchased the container at the same time as buying the fuel.

“A family has been left devastated by Khalid’s murder and I would urge anyone who has information that could assist this investigation, please call police or the charity Crimestoppers.”

Police say no arrests have been made.
