Detectives have made an arrest on suspicion of murder after a 23-year-old man suffered a fatal stab wound in Perivale.

The murder probe was launched after reports that a man had been stabbed in Bilton Road at around 8.15pm on Sunday (December 10).

Officers and London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended and found a man, believed to be aged 23, suffering from a stab wound to the chest.

London's Air Ambulance also attended and took the injured man to a west London hospital after he received first aid at the scene.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead two hours later at 10.25pm.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in the early hours of Monday (December 11).

"He has been taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.

"Police have been conducting door to door enquiries in the area to appeal for witnesses."

The victim's next of kin have been informed of his death but police are waiting for a formal identification to take place.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

A crime scene remains in place in Bilton Road.

Officers from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command continue to investigate.
