Hounslow Library will soon be on the move as it is temporarily relocated to the Civic Centre in May.

The move to Lampton Road, Hounslow, will result in the library being closed for one week from 5pm on Friday May 12.

It will re-open its doors at its new location on the ground floor of the council building on Thursday May 18.

Currently it is based at the Treaty Centre in Hounslow where a Job Centre Plus (JCP) will open up after signing a 10-year contract for the space from the end of May.

The move favours Hounslow Council as it will make a significant savings on the annual ground rent at the Treaty Centre by re-housing the services on its own site.

Eventually the library will move to its permanent home with the council at its new building on Bath Road.

This is not due to happen until Spring 2019.

Library opening hours and services will stay the same and parking will be in the pay and display car park at the Civic Centre.

However during the week-long closure, while the shift to Lampton Road takes place, residents use nearby facilities at:

  • Heston Library - New Heston Road, TW5 0LW. T: 020 8898 0256
  • Osterley Library - St Mary’s Crescent, TW7 4NB. T: 020 8560 4295
  • Isleworth Library - Twickenham Road, TW7 7EU. T: 020 8560 2934

Books can be renewed online by visiting Hounslow Libraries or over the phone.

Hounslow Library to close for one week as it moves to temporary home at the Civic Centre

Councillor Corinna Smart, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Leisure, Hounslow Council, said: “This temporary relocation of Hounslow Library secures a considerable financial saving for the council over the next few years, while at the same time, ensuring that a very valuable service is kept running and is accessible to all residents.

“While the library move in May will inevitably cause some disruption, we will ensure the move is completed as quickly and effectively as possible.”

Normal services are in operation at all other libraries in the borough.
