An Italian woman has appeared in court accused of killing her nine-week-old daughter, after reporting her missing from a Fulham hotel.

Frederica Boscolo-Gnolo, 31, of no fixed UK address, is charged with killing her daughter, Farah Boscolo-Gnolo, just six days after coming to the UK.

The Italian national, from Venice, appeared via video link, at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, from Holloway Prison's psychiatric unit where she has been since her arrest on Thursday (January 29).

Dressed in a grey jumper and with her hair scraped back into a bun, she only spoke to confirm her name.

Judge Peter Rook told the court the baby's body had not yet been found, but it is believed to be in a suitcase, which was disposed of through waste disposal last Tuesday (January 27), although he added it could be anywhere in the UK.

Police have appealed for help to trace the suitcase they believe Farah's body was disposed in.

Ms Boscolo-Gnolo did not enter a plea but was remanded in custody until her next court appearance on April 21 for a plea and case management hearing.
