Police have entered the third day into a stand-off with a man with 'hazardous items' in Northolt.
Armed police and negotiators are assisting the operation under way by Ealing police on Wood End Lane since Friday (October 21).
It is believed the man who suffers from mental health issues has locked himself inside the property with quantities of petrol and combustible items, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Around 80 people have been evacuated from their homes in the surrounding area and placed in temporary accommodation, due to safety reasons.
A police cordon remains in place at least 200 metres from the incident.
Ealing police chief superintendent Paul Martin, said: "Our aim is to bring this to a safe conclusion for everyone.
"I know that our operation has been ongoing for some time now and that it is causing disruption and inconvenience to local residents and the community of Northolt.
"I would like to thank them for their continued patience and cooperation.
"The operation will continue for as long as is necessary and I would like to stress that we are doing all we can - using all our tactics - to end this incident safely."
The incident is not terrorist-related or linked to any other police operation.

The Metropolitan Police said the incident in Northolt is “still ongoing” just after 5.30pm on Sunday (Oct 22) evening.

Ealing Council has set up an information line which will be available from Monday (October 24) between 9am to 5pm.
The information line number is 020 8825 6255 - and will be available while the incident is still ongoing.

This morning, the Met Police said the man believed to be suffering mental health issues has piles of petrol and combustible material inside property, as police entered a third day of stand-off.
It is unclear how long the situation will take to resolve but police are dealing with the incident with extreme caution.
Car park remains closed at Northolt Leisure Centre
Visitors and members of the Northolt Leisure Centre are being reminded the car park is out of bounds.
While the centre has been operating as normal today people are urged to use Northolt High School to park their vehicles.
A message on Everyone Active - Northolt Leisure Centre Facbook page said: “We are open as normal today. If you are visiting please use Northolt High School to park as our car park is currently out of action.”

Update for residents unable to go home
An update from Ealing Council:
Some residents have been asked by police to stay away from their homes until the incident has been concluded.]
The council is asking those residents to remain patient and to continue to make arrangements to stay with friends and family wherever possible.
Any residents who do require emergency housing support today (Sunday) should contact the council on 020 8825 5000.
Council staff will be available to provide advice at Northolt Leisure Centre, Eastcote Lane North, Northolt, London, UB5 4AB during the centre’s standard opening hours.
Sunday timings are 8am-8pm and during weekdays they are 6.30am-10pm
Residents start to return home
According to Chris Summers, councillor for Northolt Mandeville ward, residents in Mildred Avenue are being allowed to return home.
Residents spent the night at Northolt Leisure Centre
Some residents who were evacuated from their homes yesterday had to spend the night at Northolt Leisure Centre with limited facilities.
Councillor Chris Summers tweeted: “Northolt Leisure Centre will remain open all night as Ealing Council team cares for people evacuated from their homes due to the siege....
Earlier on Twitter he confirmed the leisure centre was closed early to assist the police operation.
Son of man locked in house has arrived to help police
Reports on Twitter suggest the son of the man who has locked himself in the house arrived on scene earlier today.

Bus route 487 is being diverting via A4005 Roxeth Hill / Sudbury Hill and A4147 Greenford Road.
Road closures
Whitton Avenue West in Northolt remains closed in both directions between the Oldfields Circus junction and Pett’s Hill due to the incident on Wood End Lane.
