The car park at Northolt Leisure Centre has been closed, getwestlondon can confirm.

A number of police vehicles with armed police have been gathering into the grounds on Eastcote Lane North, Northolt , since early Saturday (October 22) morning.

The closure is in connection with the large police presence in the area which has led to Whitton Avenue West, Northolt being cordoned off.

The Metropolitan Police said an Ealing Police operation is going on in the area and that no arrests had been made.

Steve Carrolll who was at the leisure centre just after 8am this morning taking the children to a swimming lesson said he saw at least six police vehicles pile into the car park within minutes of arriving.

Mr Carroll, 42 from Hayes said: "We got there around 8.20am for kids swimming lessons.

"When we arrived there was one car outside with lights on. By the time we parked in the leisure centre car park and walked round to the entrance there was 3 cars and 3 vans.

"When we were coming out about 9:45am the car park was blocked off by police and there was police cars and vans everywhere. Armed police there too."

A front of house team member at Northolt Leisure Centre said: "The leisure centre is open as normal.

"Just the car park has been closed by police as there is an emergency in the area.

"This is not affecting the leisure centre."

Traffic in Northolt as an Ealing police operation is under way

Swarms of police officers have been reported setting up in the area over the lat 24 hours at nearby Northolt Fire Station, Pett's Hill; and Sheridan Terrace.

A number of main roads and side roads have been closed off in the area by Ealing police.
