A lodger facing life in prison for strangling a 'beautiful and talented' city lawyer has admitted raping his victim before he murdered her.

Peter Kibisu, 23, killed Elizabeth Nnyanzi, 31, in her own Harrow home after he was allowed to stay as a close family friend.

The killer admitted the murder at the end of last year, and on Friday (January 8) pleaded guilty to rape on the same day.

Wearing a grey blazer over a low slung T-shirt, he paused for a couple of seconds before quietly saying the word: 'Guilty'.

Mechanic Kibisu, killed Ms Nnyanzi at the £600,000 house she shared with her parents and two sisters in Harrow .

He was arrested the day after Elizabeth, who attended Cheltenham Ladies' College, was killed in her bedroom on August 14 .

He was a close friend of the family and a long-standing friend of the victim, and had been lodging at their home when he strangled Elizabeth to death.

Kibisu now faces an automatic life sentence for the murder and the judge will consider additional time behind bars after he admitted rape.

Elizabeth studied medicine at Imperial College before following in her father's footsteps to pursue a career in law, starting work at top international firm Herbert Smith Freehills in May of this year.

She also worked for several charities and was said as a keen singer who had been asked to perform in an opera at the Royal Albert Hall.

Detectives were called to her three-bedroom house, on Northumberland Road, shortly before 6pm on August 14 after police received reports of an unresponsive woman.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service raced to the scene, but Miss Nnyanzi was pronounced dead when they arrived.

Peter Kibisu will be sentenced at The Old Bailey on February 2.
