Four men have been arrested after a fight broke out at a family friendly fun fair in Bedfont Green on Sunday (June 19) night, leaving a man in critical condition.

Metropolitan Police were called to Hounslow at around 6.15pm to reports of a "fight in progress".

London Ambulance Service were also at the scene, where they attended to an injured man who was taken to a west London hospital and in a "critical condition".

A spokesperson from the police force said on Monday afternoon (June 20): "Five men were arrested in connection with the incident.

"They are currently in custody at west London police stations."

A spokesperson from the Bedfont Police Ward Panel said: "I have spoken with the police and can confirm no one had died, however people are still in hospital having treatment.

"As well, arrests have been made following the incident.

"Again can I remind all if you have any information on this incident please call 101.

"Bedfont is safe and a lovely place to live, you will see the Bedfont Team around today as always please feel free to go and talk to them if you are worried."

'What is the world coming to?'

The news came as a shock to the community, many of whom had either visited, or planned to visit the fair with their younger children.

Alarmed residents shared their concerns on Facebook, with visitors thoroughly disappointed by the behaviour.

One user wrote: "What is this bloody world coming too.. Let's hope this poor man pulls through and makes a full recovery."

Another added: "No-one can go out and enjoy themselves anymore without feeling scared.. Hope they are ok!"

The incident has once again sparked safety concerns for the borough, which has seen a spate of violence leading to an increased police presence .

In May, a shooting saw a teenager in Hounslow rushed to hospital and in April, a teenage boy was stabbed at Inwood park.

One parent wrote on an online Feltham forum: "This is terrible i had my 3 year old daughter and my baby there today, I don't no why people have to spoil it. Hope whoever's hurt is okay."

Hounslow CID are investigating the incident and anyone with information is asked to call Hounslow ID on the police emergency line 101.
