The crowdfunding page has been set up to help pay for the funeral of Folajimi Orebiyi, the teenager killed in Notting Hill at the weekend.

At 9am on Wednesday morning (June 6), just 12 hours after its launch, the page was well on its way to hitting its £5,000 target. Latest figures at the time of writing (10am) showed more than £3,900 had been given by 180 people.

The 17-year-old, known as Fola, died on Portobello Road on Sunday (July 3) at around 8.45pm. Witnesses said they saw a man lying on the road with blood pouring from a neck wound.

By Tuesday (July 5) the spot near where the teen collapsed and died had turned into a shrine , with dozens of floral tributes and messages left to the Chelsea Academy student.

'A good child with a promising future'

The crowdfunding page has been set up by Patricia Bayewumi. She wrote: “On Sunday July 3, our dearest family member and friend lost his life tragically taken from us.

“Fola was a good child with a promising future, he was caring, intelligent, loving and a complete joy in our lives. We will miss him dearly and will have to find a way to live without him but keep him living within our hearts.

“Fola’s death has touched the nation, we have received an influx of support from the community and has decided to set up this page for anyone who would like to donate to support with the funeral costs.

“Many thanks in advance.

“Help spread the word!”

Tributes were paid to the teen by his big brother Ola. He apologised to his sibling for not being there for him, and said the grief was driving him crazy .

The principal at Chelsea Academy in Lots Road said Fola had just sat AS exams and hoped to go to university.

A police murder inquiry is continuing. Any witnesses or people with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Three teenage boys, one aged 15 and two 16-year-olds, have been arrested on suspicion of murder following Fola’s death.
