Videos footage and photos shows the scene in west London after a firearms officer shot himself in the foot on Thursday morning (September 21).

The incident is believed to have occurred shortly after 5.30am in Old Oak Common Lane, near the junction with Du Cane Road, on the border of Acton and Shepherd’s Bush .

Footage taken by local music artist Kojo Rigault shows a road taped off by police with officers standing guard .

There are also a number of police vehicles at the scene.

Scotland Yard says firearms officers were called to an address at Old Oak Common at 4.20am to carry out a welfare check on an occupant there.

After completing the call and leaving the address, a police firearm was discharged by one of the officers, injuring his own foot.

London Ambulance Service say it received a call to attend Old Oak Common Lane at 5.37am, where paramedics treated a man at the scene with a foot injury before taking him to a central London hospital as a priority.

Police say no one else was injured, and no other shots were fired.

Mr Rigault told getwestlondon : “I spoke to a couple of officer and they said to me the incident did not affect residents. I tried to find out if it was bomb related but they said it was nothing like that.”

He said Du Cane Road was still closed amid a heavy police presence, he said.

The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and enquiries are taking place.
